Obama speaks again: The economy isn’t listening

July 28. 2013 4:44PM

President Obama gave a “major” policy speech last week. The summary: Washington insiders, distractions, special interests and self-centered Republicans have prevented me from fixing this important problem everyone cares about, but I’m here to tell you that I’m going to Washington to fight for you!

If you have ever listened to an Obama speech, then you’ve heard it all before. This speech supposedly was about the economy. It was not. If the President really were interested in improving the U.S. economy, he would do what Presidents interested in improving the economy do. They sit down with the top leaders in Congress and make deals to pass legislation that will help businesses sell more and hire more. That is not Obama’s way.

Intead he leaves Washington and gives speeches about how awufl the Republicans are. The American people have endured five years of this, along with continued high rates of unemployment and under-employment. Businesses remain wary of hiring while this President is in the White House. Now many are announcing that they are cutting full-time employees to part-time to avoid the burdens imposed by Obamacare.

The President continues to campaign (this time for Democrats in preparation for the 2014 mid-term elections) rather than govern. It is and always will be his way. The unemployed will just have to hang in there for three more years.
