Altoona finishes off NH Fisher Cats

MANCHESTER — The Altoona Curve players may be a bit disappointed to be done with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats this season.

The Curve handed New Hampshire a 7-3 loss on Sunday at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium, thus completing a four-game series sweep of the hosts. Along the way, the Eastern League affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates posted a combined no-hitter (5-0, on Thursday) and outscored the Fisher Cats for the series, 34-11.

On Sunday, Casey Sadler (8-5) worked five innings for the win. He allowed two runs on two hits, including a solo job by Ryan Schimpf (his 18th).

Charles Cutler cracked a pair of hits, including a solo homer, for the winners. His homer came off starter and loser Deck McGuire, who fell to 5-9.

The Fishers, in fourth place in the EL’s Eastern Division, have today off, then begin a six-game road with the first of three against the Bowie BaySox (Baltimore Orioles). New Hampshire returns home for a six-game homestand beginning Tuesday, Aug. 6, also against Bowie.
