DEERFIELD -- A search by residents, police officers and volunteer firefighters for a missing teenage girl ended tragically Saturday when the girl's body was found near the side of a road she regularly followed while jogging.
The body of the girl, whose name has not been released, was found off the side of South Road at about 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
Police said neighbors out looking for the girl made the discovery.
A police emergency medical technican arrived at the scene shortly after the girl was found. CPR was performed on the girl immediately, but police said she was pronounced dead at the scene. Foul play is not suspected in the girl's death.
The possibility of a pre-existing condition is being investigated. An autopsy was scheduled to determine the cause.
The identity of the girl, said to be about 14 years of age, was not immediately released while out-of-town relatives were notified.
