Man placing children in car outside Chuck E Cheese attacked with pepper spray

MANCHESTER — A local man was injured Friday when two men attacked and pepper-sprayed him while he and his children were leaving the Chuck E Cheese restaurant on South Willow Street.

Police said Jose Santiago, 30, was placing one of his children in a car seat when a man grabbed him from behind around his neck and pulled him backward. He was then sprayed in the face with "some type of liquid irritant and forced to the ground," police said in a release.

One man went through Santiago's pockets while another man repeatedly asked him "where is it?" the release said.

Santiago told police that the men never told him what they were looking for and that they left empty-handed. Both men were described as white and in their mid to late 20s. One is described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall with spiked blond hair and the other is described as 5 feet, 11 inches with a shaved head and mustache.

Santiago and one of his children were treated for exposure to pepper spray, the release said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 668-8711 or anonymously at 624-4040 or online at
