Goffstown’s Tyler Santoro is safe getting back to second as Bedford’s Ryan Andrews tries to tag in the third inning, during the 13-year-olds Babe Ruth state championship game in Rochester on Saturday, July 20. Bedford fell to Goffstown 8-3 in the first game, but came back with a 12-2 victory in the second, earning them the title. (Thomas Roy/Union Leader)

Bedford Babe Ruth crowned champs

Bedford's Geoff Mosseau provided all the offense his team would need to beat Goffstown 12-2 in the finals of the state Babe Ruth 13-year-old tournament in Rochester on Saturday, July 20.

Mosseau drove in four runs, two on a single and two more on a double. Bedford scored in every inning but the second. The game was called after six innings due to the 10-run rule.

This was the second game of the day for the two teams. Goffstown forced the second deciding game with an 8-3 win earlier.

Bedford committed three errors in the second inning of that game, putting themselves into a 5-0 hole.

But there would be no letdowns in the second game for Bedford. Bedford's Connor Collins walked three times and was hit by a pitch. He scored four runs in the final game.

Bedford's season continues this weekend as Gill Stadium in Manchester hosts one of the Babe Ruth New England Regionals. They face Eastern Massachusetts Saturday, July 27, at 1 p.m.
