Second time in franchise history

Fisher Cats no-hit by 4 Altoona hurlers

MANCHESTER — The opener of a four-game series with the Altoona Curve went like only one other game in the 10-year history of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

The Fisher Cats were no-hit.

Four Altoona pitchers combined to do the job on Thursday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in a 5-0 verdict.

Ethan Hollingsworth went the first four innings, Jason Townsend worked three innings, Jhonathan Ramos went the eighth and Ryan Beckman pitched the ninth. It was nearly a perfect game; Brian Van Kirk's sixth-inning walk, allowed by Townsend, was the only blemish.

The only other time the Fisher Cats failed to get a hit was Aug. 26, 2011, against Harrisburg.

The visitors scored all they would need in the first inning when Gregory Polanco homered to right off starter and loser Sean Nolin. The Curve put the game away with a three-run fourth inning, keyed by Adalberto Santos' two-run single.
