Joey Polewarczyk Jr. is $25,000 richer today.

“Joey Pole,” as he is known in racing circles, passed Patrick Laperle with 15 laps remaining and held on to win the inaugural $25,000 ACT International 500 Sunday night before a large crowd at Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

Polewarczyk, of Hudson, outpointed eight-time ACT champion Brian Hoar by winning the first two 100-lap segments of the 300-lap event with Hoar close behind in second place both times.

When Hoar took command halfway through the final segment and went on to win it, Polewarczyk Jr. needed to finish second to win the overall event. With 30 laps remaining, Polewarczyk trailed Laperle by six car lengths.
