Missing 9-year-old girl found safe in Manchester

KYEVANNAH KARAM
MANCHESTER - Police found a missing 9-year-old girl about 9:40 a.m. today at an Amherst Street residence where she had apparently spent the night with a friend, police said.
The find ends a 12-hour odyssey involving the disappearance of Kyevannah Karam, who lives with her family on the 200-block of Central Street.
Police has searched for her Sunday night, visiting friends and family members where she might have stayed. Her mother reported her missing about 10 p.m. Sunday.
"Preliminary information suggests the girl had spent the night at the address with a friend," police said in a statement.
Police said detectives will continue the investigation to verify Kyevannah’s whereabouts throughout the night and this morning, as well as determine the circumstances that led to her being reported missing.

MANCHESTER — No indication exists that a girl missing from the center city has met with foul play, a police official said.
Still, police are busy trying to locate Kyevannah Karam, 9, a Central Street resident who hasn't been seen since about 9 p.m. Sunday.
"What we're feeling is potentially she is staying with her friend through the evening and didn't tell her mother," said police Lt. Maureen Tessier. "Our feeling is she is going to wake up somewhere with a friend."
Nothing suggests an abduction, Tessier said.
Tessier said police feel she remains in the Central Street area. Karam lives in the 200 block of Central Street.
Police heard from her mother about 10 p.m. after the mother had been unable to locate Kyevannah. Police visited addresses of friends and relatives Sunday night in an attempt to locate her. They are now trying to put the information out into the neighborhood via telephone calls.
She was uncertain whether the criteria had been met for an Amber alert.
