Antrim crash injures three drivers
ANTRIM -- Three drivers who were injured in a three-vehicle crash on Route 202 Monday night appear to have only minor injuries, Police Sgt. Ryan Storro said at the scene.
Two of the drivers, a man and a woman, were taken by ambulance to Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough. The third driver, a woman, was not hospitalized but appeared to have been treated at the scene for chest injuries. The names of the drivers were not available yet, Storro said.
The crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. when an eastbound Honda Civic, driven by a woman, slowed to turn left onto Old Turnpike Road and the female driver of an eastbound Volkswagen Passat traveling behind the Honda was momentarily distracted, causing her to rear-end the Honda. That collision pushed the Honda into the westbound lane where it collided head-on with a Cheverlot 1500 pickup driven by the male driver, Storro said.
The Volkswagen driver was injured, but signed off at the scene, Storro said.
Antrim, Bennington and Hillsborough police shut Route 202 down for about an hour.
Antrim and Hillsborough firefighters hosed down the road as a precaution.
