Hooksett police: Hopkinton woman goes to movie, leaves dogs locked in her car

HOOKSETT — A Hopkinton woman was arrested on charges of animal cruelty Monday after police rescued two dogs locked inside her car in a movie theater parking lot.

Maya Bloom, 18, faces two counts of animal cruelty.

Police were called to Regal Cinemas Monday afternoon after somebody reported the golden retrievers appeared to be suffering from the heat.

Officer Paul Mueller said he removed the dogs from the Honda CRV and placed them inside his cruiser with the air conditioner running. He also gave the dogs water to help cool them down before they were taken to a Manchester animal hospital for care.
Police said Bloom had gone to the theater to see a movie around 1 p.m. Mueller responded to the call at 3:09 p.m.

Bloom was released on $20,000 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in Hooksett Circuit Court Aug. 28.
