Local Baseball Roundup: City 13-year-olds lead suspended game

Rain suspended Thursday’s New Hampshire Babe Ruth State 13-year-old losers’ bracket baseball game in which the Manchester Ray Lebel All-Stars lead Exeter 6-1 with two outs in the home sixth in Rochester.

The game will resume Friday at 4 p.m. with Exeter batting and a runner on first base. The winner will remain in Rochester today to face Goffstown in the losers’ bracket final at 5 p.m. The winner Friday will advance to meet undefeated Bedford Saturday at 10 a.m.

Ryan Plentzas led Manchester Thursday with four hits and drove in four runs. Aidan Horne started a three-run, third-inning rally for Manchester when he got hit by a pitch. Keegan Hall walked and Nick Trask reached on a fielders’ choice, setting the table for Plentzas who unleashed a two-run double to the left center field fence. Dante Goldner plated Trask with a single for the 3-0 lead.

Plentzas scored and drove in a run in the fourth inning and added an RBI single in the sixth inning to score Christian Von Breeden. Dylan O’Sullivan started for Manchester on the mound and pitched into the fifth inning. He allowed two hits. Colby Foster came in relief and will remain on the mound when play resumes today.

14-year-olds

Portsmouth 9, Plymouth 1: In Barrington in the state 14-year-old Babe Ruth Tournament, Portsmouth will advance to the losers’ bracket finals and meet Barrington on Friday at 5:30 p.m. Barrington or Portsmouth will play undefeated Manchester on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the finals.

15-year-olds

Keene 9, Manchester Tom Woodlock All-Stars 4: In Keene, the host team won the state title by taking advantage of six Manchester errors to scored nine unearned runs to eliminate the Queen City team. River Fish pitched a complete game nine-hitter for Keene. He fanned four and walked five.

Manchester was led by Jordan Bussierre, who collected two hits. Dan Schesser added an RBI double and on the mound Ryan Heymans pitched four innings of solid relief. He fanned six and walked two.

Manchester led 4-0 after two innings before Keene scored seven times in the third inning.
