Bedford, Goffstown break-ins linked?

GOFFSTOWN — Two burglaries in Goffstown may be related to recent break-ins in Bedford, police said.

"This summer we've seen a large spike in burglaries," Goffstown Lt. Pierre Pouliot said.

The two Goffstown incidents were about a mile-and-a-half apart. No arrests have been made, police said.

There is a possibility the crimes are connected to July 12, 13 and 15 burglaries on Bedford's Ministerial Road, Boynton Street, Lynn Drive, Quincy Drive and Nancy Lane. The thieves took electronics and jewelry in the break-ins, which were between 1 and 8 p.m.

This year, Goffstown police have investigated 24 burglaries in town.

"That's a lot for us," Pouliot said.

In the most recent incidents, Goffstown police said burglars entered a Daniel Plummer Road home on Monday about 6:30 p.m., taking a laptop, a Wii game system and a TV. Police were called about 8:30 p.m.

Police said entry was made through an unlocked window. No one was home; a witness reported a small, dark-colored van in the area around the time of the thefts. No license place was noted, Pouliot said.

On Walnut Hill Road, someone broke into a basement window, triggering a burglar alarm at the police department, Pouliot said the culprit was scared off; no items were stolen. The residents were not home at the time.

"Always lock your doors and windows. They can access garage doors to gain entry into the home," Pouliot said.

Anyone with information can contact the Goffstown Police Department at 497-4858.

The department offers a free home check for residents going on vacation.
