Toddler rescued after falling into Windham swimming pool

WINDHAM — A 3-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital Wednesday morning after nearly drowning in the family swimming pool.

Emergency officials received a 911 call shortly after 11 a.m., according to Windham Police Chief Tom McPherson.
"The operators heard someone screaming on the other end of the line," McPherson said, noting that Windham police and fire crews were immediately dispatched to the Sharon Road home.
Upon their arrival, responders learned that the little boy, whose identity wasn't immediately available, had fallen into the water and was retrieved by his mother.
McPherson said a member of a landscaping crew that had been working nearby heard screaming coming from the home and rushed to the scene, where the landscaper proceeded to perform CPR on the unconscious tot.
McPherson said the victim was breathing but unresponsive when he was transported to Parkland Medical Center in Derry.
More information will be reported as it becomes available.
