Drug sweeps net 3 arrests; $9,000 in heroin and more than $40,000 cash seized
MANCHESTER — Three men were arrested on drug charges in Manchester and Salem during pre-dawn drug sweeps Tuesday that also netted more than $40,000 cash, heroin worth an estimated $9,000 on the street, and a stolen handgun.
Manchester police SWAT team — armed with search warrants — first raided 26 Payson St. about 5 a.m. where they seized 32.1 grams of heroin valued at about $3,200, police said. They also seized 463 Oxycodone pills, more than $40,000 cash and a .380 caliber handgun reported stolen from Hooksett in January.
Police arrested Carlos Rodriguez, 45, on the premises. Rodriguez, who lists his address as 402 Auburn St., is charged with three counts of sale of heroin, felon in possession of a firearm, receiving stolen property, and two counts of possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute, police said.
A second search warrant executed at 402 Auburn St. resulted in the arrest of Geraldo Serrano, 50. Police said they seized .8 grams of heroin and more than $400 cash. Serrano faces three counts of sale of a controlled drug and felony possession of a controlled drug, police said.
Information developed from the two arrests led police to the Rockingham Mall in Salem later Tuesday where Salem and state police arrested Julio E. Geraldo, 36, of Lawrence, Mass. Geraldo allegedly had 50 grams of heroin — with an estimated street value of $5,800 — on him at the time of his arrest. Geraldo is charged with possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute. Salem Deputy Chief of Police Shawn Patten said bail was set at $15,000 cash for Geraldo, with a hearing on the source of any funds offered for bail.
