READING, Pa. — Brad Glenn’s two-out, two-run home run broke a 5-5 tie in the 12th inning and propelled the Fisher Cats to a 7-5 win over the Reading Fightin Phils on Sunday afternoon. Glenn finished the day with two home runs as New Hampshire swept the Phils and improved to 13-3 against Reading on the season.
The home run made a winner out of Scott Gracey (3-0), who blew the save just the inning before. After Kevin Nolan homered to break a 4-4 tie in the 11th, the shortstop committed an error in the bottom of the inning. That error turned into the tying run to send the game to the 12th for Glenn’s heroics.
The Fisher Cats wasted a strong start by Marcus Stroman. The righty allowed a couple of early runs before settling in to retire the final 10 men he faced over six innings of work.
The Fisher Cats’ offense belted four home runs on the day, including two in a four-run third inning. Adam Loewen began that frame with a two-run shot before Glenn capped the frame with a shot to left field.
