Jacobo homers again in 6-3 Fisher Cats win over Phils

READING, Pa. - Gabe Jacobo broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the seventh to lift the Fisher Cats to a 6-3 victory over the Reading Fightin Phils on Saturday night.

Jack Murphy added a solo blast in the eighth as the Fisher Cats won their eighth straight against Reading and improved to 12-3 against the Phils on the season.

The seventh-inning tie was set up when the teams traded a trio of runs in their respective halves of the second inning. With two outs in the top half, Tommy Manzella drilled a two-run double to right, and then scored on a single from Adam Loewen for a 3-0 lead against Reading starter Brody Colvin. The Phils answered back against Deck McGuire in the bottom of the frame with a two-run homer and a two-out single to knot it up at 3-3.

It stayed that way as both starters settled in, and worked their way out of any subsequent trouble. McGuire (5-7) worked six full innings to earn the win, allowing three runs with eight strikeouts. Colvin walked six, but left the game after five innings with the score tied 3-3.

The series will come to an end on Sunday afternoon at 1:35 p.m. Marcus Stroman (5-2, 3.25) takes the ball for the Fisher Cats against Reading righty David Buchanan (5-9, 4.40). The Fisher Cats return home on Monday to begin a three-game series with the Portland Sea Dogs.

Christie is the real deal

We have found Gov. Chris Christie to be the most consistent, the most confident in his abilities, the most tested under fire, and the most likely to regain the White House from a disastrous Democratic regime.
