Legion baseball: Londonderry tips Derry


Derry threatened late but Londonderry was able to hang on for a 5-4 win in American Legion action at Pinkerton Academy in Derry Friday night.

Londonderry (5-3) trailed 2-1 after one frame, but scored four in the top of the third. Derry (9-3) managed a pair in the seventh, but reliever Keith Simpson closed the door for the save, earning starter Tom Corey (two hits allowed) the win.

Londondery was led by Jake Welch (2-for-4, double, RBI), Ryan Moloney (2-for-4, triple, three RBIs) and Christian Bourgea (2-for-4, double, RBI). For Derry, Jamie Collins went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
