Bishop invites Catholics to Berlin pilgrimage
MANCHESTER — For the second year in a row, Bishop Peter A. Libasci will lead a pilgrimage of New Hampshire Catholics to Berlin to celebrate the Feast of Saint Anne on Friday, July 26 and to pray for an increase of vocations to the priesthood and religious life in the Diocese of Manchester.
The pilgrimage will include vigils, concerts, Mass, and a procession through downtown Berlin.
Last year, more than 1,300 pilgrims made the journey to Saint Anne Church in the White Mountains to participate in the feast.
Organizers expect an even larger turnout this year.
“It is really exciting to be planning this grand event again this year,” said Rev. Jason Jalbert, priest secretary to the bishop, director of the Office of Vocation and a Berlin native. “Saint Anne Church in Berlin is one of the hidden treasures of New Hampshire. But even more important than the place’s beauty, it is a place where so many people have encountered Christ.”
He added, “We give thanks to Saint Anne for the many vocations to the priesthood and religious life that have come from that wonderful ‘nest of vocations’ nestled, indeed,in the majestic White Mountains, and to pray for many more vocations for our diocese through her intercession.”
