Hooksett council chooses a new vice chairman
HOOKSETT — In a close vote at Wednesday night's Town Council meeting, Leslie Boswack replaced Nancy Comai as the council's vice chairman.
Boswack, a councilor-at-large who said she wasn't even aware that she was going to be nominated, won the position in a close 4-3 vote over Comai, who represents District 6."I have not given this much thought, but I will serve if the council so wishes. We need to be role models and work toward building a community and fostering positive relationships and a civilized atmosphere. We will continue towards that," Boswack said.Comai, when presenting her case for another term as vice chairman, said her contributions to the council are tangible and important.
"I am willing to be here early. I am willing to lead future discussions. I just feel this is the right thing to do," she said.
Jim Sullivan was the sole nominee as chairman and will continue in that role. Robert Duhaime of District 2 was named secretary.
Also discussed during the meeting was the Insurance Service Organization's decision to downgrade the ratings for the Central and Village water districts, which could cause insurance premiums in those areas to increase.
"ISO could rate those areas as if the water districts don't exist, as if there is no fire department, fire hydrants, strong water pressure, sophisticated equipment and so on. I am not sure what the issue is, but this is a water district issue, and from what I understand they are referring questions to their attorney," Shankle said.
