Underfunded N.H. Retirement System mulls extending pension benefits to gay couples

CONCORD — The New Hampshire Retirement System, which has 28,000 pensioners, is asking members to self-report if they are in same-sex marriages while it works to determine whether new benefits available to them under the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act will be retroactive or prospective.
