Seacoast real estate sales in June hit highs

PORTSMOUTH — June sales of single-family homes and condominiums hit all-time highs for at least the past three years in the 13-sample Seacoast towns, the Seacoast Board of Realtors said Monday.

In the sample towns of Exeter, Greenland, Hampton, Hampton Falls, New Castle, Newfields, Newington, North Hampton, Newmarket, Portsmouth, Rye, Seabrook and Stratham, buyers continued to take advantage of low interest rates and buy available property, though single-family inventory numbers remained at a three-year low and are down 20.6 percent from last year.

Single-family sales were up 17.3 percent from last year. Homes priced in the $700,000 to $1 million range enjoyed their biggest monthly volume (11 sales) in at least three years while the six, $1 million-plus transactions were the most since July 2011. Condominium sales, now up 6.6 percent for the total year, jumped 37.2 percent from June 2012.

Median sales prices for condos was $223,000, only the second monthly gain since February, but off 6.9 percent from last year.

The June median single family sales price was $371,500, by far the best for the year.

Interns run lemonade stand fundraiser

In an effort to join the battle against childhood cancer, Lincoln Financial Group’s summer interns will host an Alex’s Lemonade Stand 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the company’s office at One Granite Place, Concord.

The company will donate proceeds raised from lemonade and T-shirt sales to the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to finding cures for all kids with cancer. “Heroes,” who are children who have fought or are currently fighting cancer, will assist in selling the lemonade.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for children with cancer. The foundation has raised more than $60 million.
