Fisher Cats blast Mets

New Hampshire Fishercat Ryan Schimpf gets tagged out at second base by Daniel Muno of the Binghamton Mets last night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester.

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats got a little payback on Sunday.

Beaten 14-3 on Saturday night, New Hampshrie turned the tables on Binghamton, beating the Mets 16-5 on Sunday at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester.

Clint Robinson cracked four hits, including a grand slam, leading the 13-hit assault. Brad Glenn added a three-run homer, Jon Talley had three hits, including a three-run homer, and Andy Burns added a solo shot in support of Marcus Stroman (5-2). The righthander went seven innings, allowing two runs on four hits. He fanned eight.

New Hampshire scored in only three innings, but made its production count. The Fisher Cats scored four runs in both the third and fifth innings, then broke it open with eight in the seventh.

Brett Lawrie, on rehab from Toronto, went 1-for-3 with a pair of walks for the Fisher Cats. Lawrie played third base.

The teams play again today at noon in the series finale.
