MANCHESTER — Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies had an arrest warrant on Monday when they found a methamphetamine lab in a three-story apartment building on the West Side. They had gone to the address to arrest a man wanted for failure to appear in court on a drug charge.
Sheriff Jim Hardy said the building at 386 Dubuque St. was evacuated and remained so Monday night as experts from various law enforcement agencies carefully removed the volatile and toxic chemicals used to manufacture the street drug. After the initial discovery, deputies obtained a search warrant and found several other setups used to produce the drug commonly known as "meth."
Hardy said Manchester firefighters, the state Fire Marshal's office, federal marshals and the federal Drug Enforcement Agency were among the agencies helping dismantle the labs and safely remove the contents.
