The Derry Planning Board recently approved a lot line change that may pave the way for future business expansion on Rockingham Road near the Windham line.
The line adjustment between Paul George's business property at 230 Rockingham Road and Scott Buckland's Granite State Dock and Marine at 238 Rockingham Road helps carve off a 3-acre piece of land from George's property that he is selling to Buckland.
George is expecting to begin construction on a self-storage facility on his property within the month. The land gained by Buckland will allow him to expand his business at some point in the future, according to George.
"Along the way, we decided we were not going to develop that piece of property because the topography made it very difficult for us to gain access to it," said George. "In Scott's case, the access is very easy."
George said the extra land will allow Buckland to expand his business, although he noted that expansion is likely to be several years away. He added that the sale of the land does not change any of the plans he has for the construction of the self-service facility at 230 Rockingham Road.
"This is a good thing for the town of Derry," said Town Administrator John Anderson. The additional parcel will give Buckland a little over four acres of property and room for future expansion.
Sheldon Wolff, who owns property at 242 Rockingham Road abutting George and Buckland's property, said he supports the lot line adjustment and that it would be a positive for business expansion in Derry.firstname.lastname@example.org
