Manchester man gets prison for park beating

MANCHESTER — A 26-year-old city man will serve 3 to 6 years in state prison after he pleaded guilty Wednesday to beating a man in a local park last summer.

Fadhil Al-Jibury pleaded guilty in Hillsborough County Superior Court to first-degree assault and conspiracy to commit first-degree assault.

Al-Jibury lured a 19-year-old man to Sullivan Park last Aug. 22 by claiming the victim’s wife was performing sexual acts. The teen went to the park, fearing his wife was in danger. Instead, Al-Jibury and accomplice Sean Janes showed up carrying oars.

“Are you sure you want to do this?” Janes asked Al-Jibury.

“Light him up,” Al-Jibury replied.

They two beat the victim with the oars until neighbors — hearing his screams for help — came out.

Janes already was sentenced to 2 to 4 years in prison.
