UNH scientist uses NASA satellites to find explosive growth in height of Earth cities
As the world's population grows, cities are expanding both upwards and outwards. That's according to scientists who are the first to use remote-sensing data to look at changes in the vertical structure of cities. "Almost all previous studies have focused on how cities are expanding outwards, mostly because other sources of remote-sensing data are not able to capture the vertical and volume dimensions of urban growth," Steve Frolking from the University of New Hampshire
