Boston man accused of dealing cocaine and heroin in Salem

AGOSTO-VAZQUEZ (COURTESY)

SALEM — A Boston man was arrested on drug charges after police allegedly found him with 190 small baggies of crack cocaine, heroin and cocaine inside of his car.

Roberto Agosto-Vazquez, 27, was charged on Saturday night with two counts of possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute after being interviewed by a police officer while standing outside of his car, police said.

Officer Joshua Dempsey was on a routine patrol around 6:05 p.m. at a BJ’s Wholesaler parking lot when he spotted Agosto-Vazquez and a male passenger in his car acting suspiciously, police said.

The male passenger saw Dempsey and quickly exited the vehicle and got into another car nearby, police said.

Dempsey interviewed both men. The man who ran to another car claimed he had just driven from Seabrook to visit a friend and say hello, according to police.

When police searched the pockets of Agosto-Vazquez, they turned up several small bags of narcotics, police said.

Agosto-Vazquez was arrested for possession of a controlled drug.

Dempsey then got a search warrant for the car, and found 189 more baggies containing crack cocaine, heroin and cocaine inside the vehicle, police said.

Police added the two counts of possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute after a search of the car.

Agosto-Vazquez was arraigned on all three charges in 10th Circuit Court in Salem on Monday.

His bail was set by a judge at $50,000 cash. He will have to appear back in court within the next couple of weeks for a probable causing hearing.

The two counts of possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute are felonies that carry potential state prison sentences and a fine.

The possession of a controlled drug charge is a misdemeanor.

The passenger in the car was not charged.
