Murdered Nashua couple mourned as police continue to investigate
NASHUA - As family and friends mourned the loss of William and Eleanor Grant, police continue to investigate their murders while releasing little information to the public..On Monday, a large crowd packed the Davis Funeral Home for a memorial service for the elderly couple who were stabbed to death June 17 inside their home on Newbury Street...Those who knew the couple have used social media to share and express their grief. The couple's grandson, Brandon Piecuch of Maine, posted a Facebook message thanking those who reached out to his family...“There are not many details as of right now,” wrote Piecuch. “The important part is there is a coward amongst us that has taken the lives of two of the greatest people to ever walk this land. This coward shall be caught and destroyed.”..The N.H. Attorney General's Office confirmed that police teams seen in the Ingalls Street neighborhood Sunday afternoon were investigating the double homicide...A statement from the Attorney General's Office indicated the Nashua's Police Department's Dive Team and Crime Scene Investigation team were “deployed to a wooded area south of Ingalls Street.”..Ingalls Street borders the Joyce Park and Wildlife Sanctuary, which includes Improved Machinery Pond and other wetlands...“It's an ongoing investigation, and the only information we are releasing is what's in the press releases,” said assistant attorney general Peter Hinckley...Although both the Nashua Police and the attorney general have stressed the neighborhood is not at risk, residents in and around Newbury Street have been on edge since the bodies of the elderly couple were discovered by a visiting caretaker...On Monday, a woman working at a nearby convenience store who did not want her name used said police have been in the neighborhood searching wooded areas between homes. She said police had stopped and questioned a woman who was not from the neighborhood...Meanwhile, Piecuch, the couple's grandson, was confident the case would be solved and asked anyone with any information to contact police. “The police department in Nashua has been working extensively to find any amount of justice that may be had here,” he said. “I hope this coward meets his/her maker in a very painful way.”..
