Enfield baby enters world while on the road to hospital
Davis said her water broke Sunday and she told her husband, Kevin, to summon his mother to sit with the couple’s children, James 7 and Hannah, 19 months, at their Enfield home.
“My poor husband was flying down the Interstate,” she said. “Nobody would pull over.”
Davis said her body instinctively worked to deliver the child.
“I was trying not to push,” she said. “By the time we got to the hospital road, her head was out.”
Erica used her mouth to suction the newborn’s air passages.
Kevin found his way to the emergency room, announcing to the assembled staffers “She was born in the car, she was born in the car.”
“This was incredibly easy, I feel like I didn’t have a baby at all,” Davis said. “People are giving me so much credit, but the heroes are the women who spend 10 hours in labor.”
