Kings send Bernier to Leafs

The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, traded goaltender Jonathan Bernier to the Toronto Maple Leafs for forward Matt Frattin, goaltender Ben Scrivens and a second-round draft pick on Sunday.

Bernier was a first-round pick (11th overall) in 2006. He played in 62 career regular season games with the Kings (and one playoff game), posting a record of 29-20-6, a .912 save percentage, a 2.36 goals-against average and six shutouts.

Bernier has been stuck behind L.A. starter Jonathan Quick. Both are former Monarchs. In three seasons with Manchester from 2007-10 Bernier recorded 54 victories in 115 games played.

Frattin played in 25 regular-season games with the Maple Leafs this season, recording 13 points. Scrivens played in 20 games this season, going 7-9-0 record with two shutouts, a 2.69 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage.

The second-round draft selection acquired by the Kings as part of the trade will be in 2014 or 2015 (Toronto's option).
