Howland's two-run single leads Sweeney to victory

A two-run single from Ethan Howland gave Sweeney Post an 8-6 win over host Laconia Post in the 11th inning of American Legion Distric A action Saturday.

Tyler Burke and Vinny Langella scored on Howland's hit and Langella earned the win with five scoreless innings in relief, striking out 10 and allowing just two hits.

Sweeney (5-0, 3-0 in District A) was led by Zach Beckwith, who had a three-run double in fifth to make it 5-3 Sweeney. Kevin Gonzales and Brendan Sullivan had three hits each for Sweeney. Laconis fell to 1-2 in district play. Sweeney hosts Post 79 Monday at 7 p.m. at Gill Stadium.
