Alex Dickerson hit a two-run homer and drove in three runs as the Altoona Curve won their second straight game over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 5-2, on Wednesday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field in Altoona, Pa.

Dickeron’s homer came in the seventh off New Hampshire starter Deck McGuire (3-7), who took the loss. McGuire went six innings, allowing all five runs (one unearned) on four hits and one walk. He struck out six,

New Hampshire took a 2-0 lead. Kevin Pillar walked in the first, stole second and scored on a throwing error by Altoona third baseman Abalberto Santos. Adam Loewen hit a solo homer in the fourth to double the Fisher Cats’ lead.

Altoona got even in the bottom of the fourth. Mel Rojas led off with a double and scored on Gregory Palanco’s triple. Palanco scored on Dickerson’s sacrifice fly.

Dickerson’s homer in the seventh provided the winning runs for Altoona. The Curve tacked on another run as Jarek Cunningham tripled and scored on Charles Cutler’s single.

Altoona starter Eliecer Navarro went six innings, allowing two runs (one unearned) on four hits. He walked two and struck out five. Reliver Ethan Hollingworth (3-3) got the win for his two innings of scoreless ball. Luis Angel Sanz got the save with a clean ninth inning.

The teams finish the three-game series tonight at 7. Ryan Tepera (6-5) goes for the Fisher Cats. Casey Sadler (7-4) starts for Altoona.

Tuesday: Curve beat Fisher Cats in 10 innings

Adalberto Santos delivered a game-winning single in the 10th inning to lead Altoona to a 5-4 Eastern League victory against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats Tuesday in Altoona, Pa.

It was the sixth straight win for the Curve (31-37) who bounced back from a three-run homer by New Hampshire’s Brian Van Kirk in the top of the ninth inning and a one-hour, 28-minute rain delay in the top of the 10th.

Altoona starter David Bromberg pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing four hits and one walk with seven strikeouts.

New Hampshire starter Marcus Walden was equally effective as he matched his career-high 7 2/3 innings. He departed after surrendering a two-run homer to Santos in the eighth, giving the Curve a 3-1 lead.

Van Kirk erased that deficit for New Hampshire (33-37) when, with Kevin Nolan (single) and Adam Loewen (walk) aboard, he launched a 1-2 pitch into the bleachers above the left field wall for his first homer of the season.

Altoona tied the game in the home ninth off reliever Dustin Antolin when Alex Dickerson doubled, moved to third on a fly out by Jarek Cunningham, and scored on a single by Andy Vazquez.

New Hampshire lead-off hitter Kevin Pillar collected three hits to raise his batting average to .321.

Kevin Kasparek (3-1) earned the win in relief for Altoona and Tyson Brummett (0-4) suffered the loss for the Fisher Cats.
