Dealership plans bone marrow drive

June 20. 2013 10:56PM

MANCHESTER — Quirk Chevy at 1250 South Willow St., is hosting a bone marrow registration drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The drive is being held in honor of Giovanni Guglielmo, a 5-year-old from New Hampshire who died last year after battling a rare immune disorder. Giovanni's illness inspired his family to mount a campaign that has prompted thousands to register as bone marrow donors.

Registering takes about 10 minutes and involved completing a one-page application and rubbing two cotton swabs in your mouth.

Anyone between 18 and 55 in general good health can register as a bone marrow donor.
