Mass. sex offender indicted in 2011 indecent exposure

BRENTWOOD — A sex offender from Massachusetts has been indicted for exposing himself in 2011 to a young girl at a Walmart in Salem. It’s the second such case against Ronald Beausoleil, 33, of Haverhill, Mass. who was arrested outside of a Walmart in Plaistow on March 10 — the day after his alleged sexual assault of a 9-year-old girl in that store. The new charge against Beausoleil could bring a 3½- to 7-year prison term on top of whatever punishment he may face in the Plaistow sexual assault case. He was indicted in that case in May on charges of aggravated felonious sexual assault, two counts of felonious sexual assault and accomplice to theft by unauthorized taking. A man who walked into a Walmart in Salem on Sept. 19, 2011, and exposed himself to a girl fled before police arrived.

Salem police identified Beausoleil as a suspect following his arrest in March by comparing his mug shot from the Plaistow arrest with store surveillance footage from the September 2011 case.

Police put together a photo lineup that included Beausoleil with the help of a criminal information analyst at the Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry.
The victim and an adult witness in the 2011 case identified Beausoleil during the lineup, police said.

In the Plaistow case, Beausoleil is accused of grabbing the girl’s genital area in the toy department. The girl’s parent had lost sight of her for a moment, police said.
Rockingham County Sheriff’s Deputy Matthew Caracciolo spotted Beausoleil sitting in his pickup outside the store the following night and took him into custody.

Beausoleil has a 1999 conviction for indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 years of age.
In 2007, he was convicted of attempted open and gross lewdness and lascivious behavior.
