Enfield fire leaves one burned

An Enfield resident suffered second-degree burns Monday night in a two-alarm fire that started in a garage and spread to the house.

Firefighters were called to a single-family home on Melinda Road about 8:20 p.m.

The fire started in a detached, two-bay garage then burned the siding on the house, Firefighter Fred Cummings said.

One occupant went to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon with second-degree burns. No other details were immediately available.

Cause and origin of the blaze is undetermined. The fire is under investigation, but not considered suspicious.

The house suffered minor damage and remains livable, Cummings said.

It took firefighters about an hour to bring the blaze under control. They cleared the scene about 11:30 p.m. Five communities provided mutual aid.
