Windham to reconsider dodgeball ban

WINDHAM - Members of the Windham School Board will reconsider the district's dodgeball ban Tuesday night, after a two-month committee review.

In March, the board voted 4-1 in favor of removing dodgeball and nine other other human-target games from the curriculum after parental concerns about bullying and student safety.

Board member Dennis Senibaldi objected to the vote, and his 12-year-old twin sons Michael and Matthew were among the hundreds of district students to petition the district to reconsider the ban.

In April, an 11-member committee was tasked with reviewing the board's decision after the board heard from various community members and students who wanted to see the games be returned.

The committee's most recent findings will be discussed in detail at Tuesday night's Windham School Board meeting. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the Community Development building next door to town hall.
