Hudson's 'Joey Pole' bests Dover's Wayne Helliwell at Canaan

One New Hampshire guy beat another in the ACT 150 at Canaan Fair Speedway on Saturday night.

Hudson's Joey Polewarczyk Jr. came from behind to top reigning tour champ Wayne Helliwell Jr. of Dover en route to earning his first ACT victory since October of 2011. Turner, Maine's Glen Luce completed the all-Ford podium.

Polewarczyk climbed into the top five with 50 laps to go, then into second place until a lap 131 caution flag set up a fight to the finish with Helliwell, who had dominated most of the race. When the green flag dropped, "Joey Pole" powered past Helliwell.

"This race was all about positioning ourselves for the win," said Polewarczyk. "As the end came, I went to the outside and it just work. It is so great to be back in victory lane."

"We gave it our best shot today; we just didn't have it," said Helliwell. "Hats off to Joey and them today. They ran a great race."

The win qualifies Polewarczyk for the Bond Auto ACT Invitational on September 21 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

The ACT runs next on Saturday for a 150-lap event at White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock.
