Va. police arrest Manchester woman wanted in Hooksett gun theft

HOOKSETT — A Manchester woman wanted for her role in a gun theft from Riley's Sport Shop, was arrested Tuesday in Virginia.

Shaza Mohammad, 18, who has ties to Virginia, was arrested by the Fairfax County Police Department on a Hooksett warrant charging her with being a fugitive from justice on a theft by unauthorized taking charge, a Class A felony.

Police said two men and a woman were involved in the May 14 gun theft.

An employee saw one of the men with the gun and took it back, but police said as the employee walked away, the woman reached around the case and took a .357-caliber Sig Sauer semi-automatic handgun and a knife.

Police said Mohammad actually was recorded on the store's video-surveillance system taking three guns from a display case, but she left the store with only one of them. Authorities later recovered the gun.

On the video, Mohammed allegedly walks to the back of the store, she cuts a security tag off the gun and then walks out of the store with it, police said.

Police said Alfred Nyonee, 20, of Manchester was one of the men involved. He was arrested on June 4 and is being detained on $50,000 cash bail.

Mohammad is being held without bail at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center in Virginia, pending her arraignment today.

Proceedings are underway for her return to New Hampshire.
