Joelle Ferstenberg

Missing young woman found atop Green Mountain in Effingham

EFFINGHAM — An 18-year-old woman who on Sunday walked away from Lakeview NeuroRehabilitation Center was found Tuesday evening at the summit of Green Mountain, according to New Hampshire Fish and Game Lt. Jim Goss.

Goss said Joelle Ferstenberg had minor hypothermia but was otherwise not injured. She was found at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday, about two days after wandering away from the facility Sunday afternoon by Eric Gerard of Porter, Maine, who was hiking the mountain with his dog, Goss said. Gerard's mother works at the facility, he said.

"So he was hiking but also looking for (Ferstenberg)," Goss said.

Ferstenberg was taken to Memorial Hospital in North Conway for evaluation, he said.
