Pedestrian badly hurt in Claremont hit and run


CLAREMONT – A pedestrian was seriously injured in a hit and run accident on North Street Monday night.

Hope Dustin-Carpenter, 40, of Claremont was last reported to be in stable condition at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, police said in a statement Tuesday afternoon.

"The victim's injuries are serious but not life threatening," police said.

Police went to North Street near Lincoln Heights for a report of the accident around 10:15 p.m.

The suspect reportedly left the scene and was last seen heading east on Washington Street.

Carpenter was taken directly to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center by Golden Cross Ambulance.

Witnesses described the suspect as a middle-aged white man with a goatee, driving a maroon station wagon-type vehicle.

Police are asking anyone with any information or who may have witnessed the accident to call police at 542-9538.
