Market for Windham skate park equipment fails to develop
In late April, the board voted unanimously to place the town’s nine skateboarding ramps up for sale. Selectmen placed the items up for bid over the course of 30 days.
By spring, town officials opted to close the park for good.
Community Development Director Laura Scott suggested the town try a different approach, such as listing the items on online auction sites like eBay or via one of the regional ListServe options for recreation departments or public works departments.
Phil LoChiatto, chairman of the Board of Selectmen, said it may even be time for the town to begin soliciting bids for the park’s demolition.
While town officials had considered keeping the skate park intact in another area of town, such as behind the police station, costs proved prohibitive.
