Red Sox homers deck Angels
Jarrod Saltalmacchia blasted two home runs into the centerfield bleachers and David Ortiz hit a three-run shot to power first-place Boston to a 10-5 victory over the staggering Los Angeles Angels Sunday.
Saltalmacchia started the game 0-for-2 but then connected off starter Joe Blanton (1-10) to start a back-to-back home run set with Mike Carp in the sixth, and then hit a three-run shot off Robert Coello in the seventh.
He and Carp (home run No. 6, also into the bleachers) hit consecutive pitches from Blanton, who became the first 10-game loser in the major leagues.
Pujols connected with two outs and nobody on in the first, the eighth of his career against Dempster, the most he has against any pitcher.
