MANCHESTER — A 19-year-old city man was arrested Sunday afternoon, charged in connection with two local robberies over the weekend.

Officers were patrolling the neighborhood west of Main Street at 5:10 p.m. Sunday when Sgt. Mike Biron observed a subject matching the description of a man suspected of robbing a 7-11 on Queen City Avenue around 4 a.m. Saturday. The man was walking on Quincy Street near Douglas Street.

Sgt. Biron stopped the man, identified as Kyle Lemire, 19, of Manchester. Biron said Lemire attempted to flee the area but was quickly apprehended. He was charged with armed robbery and resisting detention.

Lemire also was charged with a second count of armed robbery in connection with the robbery at the Gulf Express at 21 Main St. at 11:55 p.m. Saturday. In that incident, witnesses told police, the thief entered the station, approached the clerk, and passed a note indicating he had a gun and demanding money.
