Fire hits State Hospital parking garage

June 08. 2013 12:15AM

CONCORD — Fire caused moderate damage to a transportation garage on Pleasant Street owned by the New Hampshire State Hospital on Friday night, Battalion Chief Rick Whitney said.

Whitney said firefighters encountered heavy smoke and fire in the roof of the building when they arrived about 9:15 p.m. Friday. Crews had trouble getting into the building because of a locked mechanical overhead door, he said.

Once firefighters gained entry, they quickly extinguished the blaze and the fire was out by 10 p.m., he said.

The building was not occupied at the time of the fire and there were no injuries, he said.
