NHIAA Boys' Volleyball: Windham, Salem to meet for title

Windham and defending state champion Salem will clash for the NHIAA boys' volleyball title on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Pinkerton Academy of Derry.

The third-ranked Jaguars eliminated the second-ranked Lancers 3-1 while eight-time state champ Salem ousted the fourth-ranked Astros, 3-1.

Windham (16-2) won the first game 25-16, lost the second 28-26 and won the next two, 25-17 and 26-24, to reach the finals at the expense of the 15-3 Lancers.

Leading the winners with 18 kills was Brandon Bernyk, followed by Evan Todd with 16. Bernyk had 11 blocks, followed by Andrew Lowman with six and Tucker Lippold with five. Lippold also had 40 assists.

Salem, a 3-1 winner over No. 4 Pinkerton, remained unbeaten behind kill leaders Eric Denning with 15, Danny Nugent (eight) and Steve Nugent with seven. Andrew Ruffen had a strong outing with 37 assists, eight digs and four aces.
