NHIAA Tennis: Bedford boys, Londonderry girls claim state doubles crowns

The NHIAA boys’ doubles tennis tournament state plaque resides in Bedford for a third straight year.

McKinley Grimes and Dan Soucy teamed up to beat Harrison Max and Matt McKinney of Londonderry 6-4, 6-2 for the title at Derryfield School of Manchester.

Last year Grimes and Mark HoSang teamed up for the title and in 2011, HoSang and Myles Utell were champs.

Thursday, Grimes and Soucy erased Kotaro Horiuchi and Chris Mueller of Hanover in the semis. Max and McKinney upended Greg Cistulli and Justin Toler of Concord in the other semifinal match. Soucy and Grimes were 18-0 as a team this season.

On the girls’ side, Londonderry’s Cassie Burbine and Amanda DePasquale defeated Sunday Swett and Kisha Saik from Bow, 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 for the title. Londonderry defeated Bishop Guertin in a forfeited match and Bow defeated Bishop Brady in straight sets to advance to the final round.
