Fisher Cats lose despite Nolan's HR

Akron turned out to be a rude host for New Hampshire this week.

Jesus Aguilar drove in three runs to lead the Aeros to a 7-2 Eastern League win Thursday, sweeping the Fisher Cats in their three-game series at Canal Park. New Hampshire (28-33) suffered it fifth straight loss last night and moves on face Erie (Pa.) in a three-game series beginning today.

New Hampshire scored its runs in the first inning when Ryan Schimpf singled and jogged home on Kevin Nolan's sixth season homer to right centerfield.

Akron (29-31) got one back in the home first on Aguilar's RBI single.

In the sixth inning, the Aeros rallied for five runs. Jose Ramirez doubled and advanced to third on a groundout. Aguilar singled him home with a two-out basehit to tie the game.

After New Hampshire reliever Evan Crawford replaced starter Deck McGuire, Carlos Moncrief singled and Quincy Latimore doubled home two runs for a 4-2 advantage. Jake Lowery singled home Latimore and Lowery scored the final run of the inning on another basehit from Giovanny Urshela. Akron tacked on another run in the seventh inning when Aguilar plated a home on a groundout.

McGuire (3-6) took the mound loss despite striking out nine batters. He allowed four hits and two walks on 106 pitches, 72 for strikes. Toru Murata (3-3) pitched seven innings for the win, allowing five hits, no walks with six whiffs.
