Mets' Montero, bullpen blank Fisher Cats


The Binghamton Mets scored in four of the first five innings en route to a 6-0 triumph over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Saturday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

Second baseman Daniel Muno and left fielder Cory Vaughn each had three hits for Binghamton, which collected 15 hits in the game. Muno hit a two-run home run in the second inning, and Vaughn had a solo home run in the eighth.

New Hampshire starting pitcher Ryan Tepera allowed five runs on 10 hits in 4 2/3 innings. Matt Wright didn't allow a run in 2 1/3 innings of relief before giving way to Tommy Hottovy, who surrendered a run on two hits over the final two innings.

Clint Robinson had two of New Hampshire's five hits.

The loss dropped the Fisher Cats to 28-29. Binghamton raised its record to 32-24 and took sole possession of first place in the Eastern League's Eastern Division.

Binghamton's Rafael Montero (6-3) pitched seven innings to earn the win. Montero allowed five hits, struck out four and walked one.

Chase Huchingson tossed two innings of scoreless relief.
