Flags should be half-staff Monday, Thursday for holiday
CONCORD — Gov. Maggie Hassan has ordered flags in the state be lowered to half-staff on Monday and Thursday in observance of Memorial Day.
While Monday is a state and federal holiday, the traditional date for Memorial Day is May 30.
Hassan issued a proclamation on Friday recognizing both, but officially declaring Thursday as Memorial Day in the state of New Hampshire. Flags will fly at half-staff until noon on Monday and all day on Thursday. The State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen will also hold its official Memorial Day service on Thursday at 11 a.m.
“Our debt to our fallen is as old and as great as this nation,” Hassan said in a release. “I join all of the citizens of the Granite State in honoring our fallen heroes, their families and all of our veterans who have sacrificed so much for us.”
