Salem board votes to hire assistant town manager
During Monday night’s meeting of the Board of Selectmen, members voted, 4-1, in favor of seeking an assistant town manager.
Selectman Stephen Campbell was opposed to the move as he felt the salary range of $80,000 to $93,000 was too high.
After a dozen years working in Salem, Scott submitted his resignation in late April, stating he’d accepted a similar position that was much closer to his Newburyport, Mass., home.
Town Manager Keith Hickey said the assistant town manager will oversee the community development department, among other things.
